SurveyTracker 5.6.2 is a new release of SurveyTracker with a series of Data Collection enhancements on the front-end and a significant speed boost on the back end. We urge you to check out the
new functionality and upgrade as soon as you get the chance.
Some of the new features in SurveyTracker include:
Faster and more robust data processing
SurveyTracker 5.6.2 includes a major overhaul "behind-the-scenes" as to how it handles data and system resources. While this isn't something you will see in a new button or screen, you will
certainly feel the change while using SurveyTracker, especially when working with large data sets and numerous filters.
For users who have had long waits accessing large data sets in previous versions, SurveyTracker 5.6.2 should significantly improve performance and speed up the process.
Write-In Responses and Image Clips are easier than ever to review
Your access to reviewing write-in responses and image clips in the data screen has been improved:

- In the main Data screen, Write-in comments and image clips are now displayed with the rest of your response data. You no longer have to edit a record, locate the write-in comment, and
click on it to view.
- A new Write-In Text and Code Book Viewer screen has been added. The new Viewer compiles all the responses from a selected write-in question and displays them in a handy grid. This helps
you get a better understanding of what people as a group had to say without having to cycle through each response.
A new and improved way to Code Write-In Comments and Image Clips for statistical reporting

Code Books are a great, but under-used, feature in SurveyTracker. Coding allows you to assign values to common ideas or themes in write-in comments that can then be reported on statistically in
reports.
If you're familiar with the feature but have found it time consuming to do in the past, or if you aren't even sure what a Code Book is, you may want to check out this improved feature in the
newest SruveyTracker release.
How has the Code book gotten easier? It's simple: Code Books have been moved to the new Write-In Text and Code Book Viewer screen. The new interface automatically groups your comments to make it
much easier to review them together as a group and determine patterns and themes for improved coding. Basically, it puts each comment in context with one another so you can easily generate a code
book and assign the values rapidly.
The time you spend coding will be greatly reduced.
| About Code Books |
Coding write-in comments means reviewing the comments made by the respondents and determining common thoughts or ideas. These are then turned into a Code Book. You then assign a code to
the write-in comments.
For example, given the question, “Please provide any comments about your job”, you may receive a certain number of positive, negative, and neutral responses. Positive responses can be
assigned to one code, negative into a second, and neutral into a third.
Once the write-in is coded, you have effectively created a single or multiple response scale and populated it with data. You can then generate statistical reports based on the write-in data.

Import, Export, and Delete Individual Image Clips with Ease!

For users with image clip data from scannable forms, you have a lot more control over your comments than ever before. Not only do the comments show automatically in the Data screen, they are also
combined in the new Write-In Text and Code Book Viewer.
More importantly, you now have individual right-click functionality on individual image clips which gives you the ability cut, copy, and paste individual comments, import and export comments to
a file, and, best of all delete unwanted or poorly scanned comments that add nothing to your reports. The right-click menu controls only affect the individual comment you are working on, leaving
all the other response data alone.
This is a great way to clean up improper or bad image clips as well as extract individual comments that you want to showcase outside of SurveyTracker.
Looking For Someone Specific in the Data Screen?
New search functionality in Data Collection Click to enlarge
A new way to find individual responses has been added to the Data Collection screen. Each audience field or Respondent ID field is now a searchable via a drop-down list. You can either browse
through respondents using the drop-down list or start typing and the field will auto-fill with possible matches. This is a great time saver!
This enhancement is perfect when used in conjunction with a new alert interface that can display when opening reports. In previous versions, if you had (for example) scanned a Numeric grid
field but ended up with empty spaces in the data, you would get an Invalid Floating Point when opening a report. You would then have to painstakingly hunt down the bad data or export the data and
clean it up in Excel. The new interface now shows you exactly which respondent has the bad data so you can use the new Find controls to locate and fix it!
But what if you don't have time hunting down bad data? That ok! The report opens anyway by simply ignoring the error. In the usual time-crunch we are always under, this will save a lot of
headaches caused by hunting down bad data.
These great enhancements to the Data screen will appeal to a core group of users who need to review and work with their responses data often. Even if you have never used the Code Book before,
you might want to check it out now and see if it could be useful to your statistical analysis. Regardless of the feature enhancements, the tweaks to the back-end of SurveyTracker should give you a
noticeable boost and makes the upgrade worth it by itself.
