Web-based surveys hosted on your server offer an optional accessibility version of the survey for respondents with visual impairments.
The accessibility version of the survey contains a simplified high-contrast layout that is modified from your original survey layout.
Either version of the survey can be offered to your respondents.
The accessibility surveys are intended to meet the HTML standards from:
- The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
- The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act.
- Assistive software such as Microsoft Windows accessibility features and screen readers such as JAWS by Freedom Scientific.
The accessibility version of the surveys:
- Do not use hard-coded font sizes or styles so screen magnification software and controls that override font sizes will work as intended.
- Have a simplified vertical layout to make it easier to follow the flow of the survey.
- Employ HTML code designed to be used with assistive software such as screen readers.
- Use a simple color palette and font controls to ensure a standard appearance with high contrast.
